GENERAL PURPOSE

In a society based on freedom and equality, ID 317 is designed to explore and implement the concepts of UNIVERSAL and BARRIER-FREE DESIGN, making a positive contribution to society's quality of life issues. Investigating the psychological, social and physical aspects of varying degrees of capabilities, students will move beyond the general guidelines of residential and commercial design, integrating knowledge gained from "outside the average" end-users, elements and principles of design, and ADA Design Guidelines & Standards. A more thorough understanding of and sensitivity toward integration of Universal Design concepts in interior applications is the ultimate goal of this course.
